character development and the subject of education

I hope this update and the next one aren't too boring, I wanted to in this chapter also shine a bit of light on the history of the friendship between the blake and Janey characters-

and also talk a little about education. it's something which will come up often in the comic- it's part of the point of the comic and I hope it gets across in the story. I think univewrsity is a strange place, like a strange step between being something and suddenly not being somethng. and you think you won't, but everyone I know has, inevetibaly, gone through post University Blues

sorry if it's a boring subject though-

also, you know, it's OK to not want to go to university- i feel at least in the UK there is wayyy too much pressure to go. often people go way too young !!

let's all talk about it all

@Joanamosi wahhh thank you ='III

@nilbog thank you i'm glad you like them =')))

@Mimi-Evelyn WAW, such wonderful comment, so detailed, thank you very much for writing in such depth, eve ='DDD!!!! ahhhh I'm glad you see a relationship devleoping between these characters- thank you!! yes! I think they put way too much pressure on students in school ='U it's not that university is bad!! but i feel bad for people (like Liam for example) who feel so guilty for not knowing exactly what they want to do in life yet =)

@thryn wahhh I'm so glad it is not boring!! Dx I'm sorry you feel that way man, and I hope everything is OK ='I are you about to finish or go to uni?

@NightmareNatarii wahh thank you and how amusing you are reading during class ='DDD

@mananabiscuit ahh I had no idea you were in uni! yes! my freind has a similar problem man, look, if you're not enjoying it right now it's good to take a break- it's never too late to go to univeristy (at least not here in UK) =)

@jonasfx thank you and thank you for your help :))) <3 thank you very much for the comments too ahhh ='UU

@Jayu hehee! her name is pronounced 'jane-E' like Jane with an ee sound on the end ='D

@Earthfield wow, well thank you, I love your comic!! thank you for reading and your comments totally made my day ='DD

@eternalbeliever12 I think its good you are staying for an extra year!!! yeah me, too, I totally regret going to uni the age i went- i just tihnk i coulda learned a whole lot more if I went now- but then i always think 'but i wouldnt be where I am or LEARNED what i did if i'd never gone to uni' ! I guess it's like a woulda shoulda coulda situation! XD - on the subject edit, I know what you mean- though I have to say there are hard times for kids coming out of uni as well- although I can see why kids have no choice and education is probably the better one, it's really hardto come out of uni because all you have is a qualification, and no exprience. it's sad to say but unfortnately emplyers aren't looking for qualifications right now, they don't want to teach kids the basic skills you need to be in the work place! that however is for people like me who finished when the ressesion hit, idk about kids who will finish later =) in short, i agree- i don't think uni is good or bad, i think it depends on the person!! I feel like atm in UK people are pushing on ething and one thing only though, and it's possibly not the right choice for everyone =)

@AshKetchum OH THANKYOU!! I'm glad yoyu like it!!!

@AliceRose I PROMISE YOU'LL BE FINE!!!! <3333 we are lucky to live in the UK where you can also come back to university easily in the future~

@sillyilly yeah, I really, REALLY eel for you guys in america who have a hard time cuz you need the goddamn money =( for some people uni is a great choice, but it's not for everyone =SS ahhh it really makes me day to ear that, so thank you =)

SO happy we, as the fan masses, were able to help you draw! :D Great feeling!
I think you're dead right, not going to uni, especially where i grew up was seen WAY too negatively. there's a LOT of pressure on young people to do it, even if its not the right route for you, schools have a habit of the "DO A DEGREE" mindset. I'm really happy that this is coming up in Blake! :) I really love the way Janey and Ruthie's relationship is developing! they work great together, they balance each other out in all sorts of fields. I hope Janey can open up to her, she really needs a girl talk :D

I feel like I should've taken a year off before going to university OTL I wasn't ready. but ze familliiiiia orz. interested in what Janey is gonna say @_@ and ruthie

April 4th, 2012, 6:38 am

I'm so glad that you're up and updating again! not just because I like the comic so much but for you too :)

it's nice to get some more depth to janey, she's been a bit like a leaf going around with the wind so far. swoosh swoosh~!

and like others said; ruthie has some real cute expressions =n__n=
and those disneyesque sweatdrops?! haha so cute~

Finally finished reading up to date! =D
I started yesterday though, but it's good to finally catch up.
First of all, my apologies, I always try to check on people who were kind enough to check on my works as well, but since I started "Are you gay, Johnny?" I've been really busy, and couldn't properly check on all those fellows who checked on me, so here I am.
Now, regarding this work, I am totally in love with it, I liked the characters traits and development, and how their virtues and flaws go together smoothly balanced.
I promise to follow from now on, and congratulations for having such a great story, I promise to check up on the others once I manage to check on more Jeevers.

OMFG teeeeeeeeeell me about it!! I totally agree with Janey, most of my friends that are at uni now are scared of what they will do when they leave! Which is why Im staying at uni for an extra year! And the presssure to go to uni is ridiculous. Yeah Im STILL regretting going to uni at the immature age of 18 especially now that I've totally fallen behind. And Im in second year already (wtf how did I manage that?) so I might as well finish, dammit ¬¬!! One day I swear I will draw about this!! >.<
I love your new banner btw!!!

edit: but you know what, I just wanted to add that quite a few young people these days are going to uni because they dont know what to do/or for the sake of it. Sometimes staying in education is your only choice. What job opportunities are out there for a 18 year old nowadays? I know that's a slightly stupid reason to go uni but we all do stupid things out of fear. Some of us fear the workplace and being stuck in a shitty job...
Many young people believe that without a uni degree they will struggle and parents arent helping that either. My mum is a good example, she looks down on people without university degrees for that reason. I think university is good for educating but I dont believe it makes people special but my mum seems to think that as she went to uni twice. But only because she loves education, some people hate it you know.
(And some people who went to uni are still plain stupid, so it doesn't make everyone smarter, you make yourself smarter when you apply yourself and learn from other peoples mistakes! You dont need a uni degree to do that.) I'm not even too fond of education myself. I hate being told what to do! But I dont know what I would be doing now if I didnt go uni, so I guess its good for holding things off until you are sure what you want to do, job- wise! I still dont have a clue though ¬¬
Sorry for long post haha I tend go a bit crazy at this time in the morning ¬¬

i can relate to this comic so hard arggggg
i don't know what is going to happen after uni IT IS SCARY

April 6th, 2012, 11:39 am

ahhhh i agree, degrees are so common now but they still pratically force you to take one when now a days your probally better off just starting somewhere and developing skills D:
not to mention the 1094710947130u39pfwe££££ fee we have to pay - DAMN YOU UK :(

but besides from that, i actually LOVE your comic its so realistic and down to earth and not just silly pointless lovey dovey stuff but has depth
cant wait for moreeeeeee it always makes me smile :)
